Ludhiana, October 31, 2014: National Bank for Agricultural & Rural Development (NABARD) organised a Business Pan Meet of its officers belonging to Agricultural Engineering Discipline on October 30 – 31 at Ludhiana in association with CIPHET.
The inauguration of the programme was done jointly by Naresh Gupta, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Punjab R.O. Chandigarh, Dr R. K. Gupta, Director CIPHET & Dr. Jas Karan Mahal, Dean College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology.
On the occasion it indeed was a welcome step by NABARD to condu8ct these programme at Ludhiana as it has three premier institutes in the form of PAU, CIPHET & GADVASU. He underlined that for Punjab in particular role of farm engineering is quite pertinent factoring in the way the situation is developing in agriculture & if Punjab has to maintain its lead, it is from engineering which would show the way.
Same was underlined by Dean COEAE Mahal who informed that one could not survive without agriculture & implements as one could not eat microchips. He also told that cooperative system is the catalysts to facilitate broad-banding of farm equipments.
In this occasion Dr. R. K. Gupta told that mechanization in farms is still at 28% and it is the objective of the GoI to raise it of 70% by 2050 & the same can only be achieved if farm engineering rise of the occasion. He also confirmed that NABARD would have a critical role so play in future. He also desired that a directory of Agricultural Engineering be created by NABARD & shared on a pen India Basis.
The programme was conducted under the overall guidance of DDM, NABARD Ludhiana Nalin Rai. As a part of this programme filed visit was also organised at Nurpur Bet Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society.
