Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu flags off ‘cycle for change’ rally in Ludhiana
People from different walks of life participated in the rally
Ludhiana: Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu on Saturday morning, flagged off a “Cycle for Change” rally organised under Smart City Mission by the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana. Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Pardeep Sabharwal also present on the occasion.
The rally which was commenced from Guru Nanak Stadium was culminated at MBD Mall after taking the route from Rani Jhansi Road to Ghumar Mandi via Aarti Chowk.
Bharat Bhushan Ashu, while interacting with the media on the sidelines of the event said that the purpose to organise this cycle rally was to give a clear and loud message to city residents to keep their surroundings and environment clean. “Swachhta can only possible with the cooperation of every individual of the city,” he said.
He said that to promote cycling under Smart City Mission, a track dedicated for cycling starting from Ferozepur Road to Gill Road is being constructed at Sidhwan Water Front. The Minister said that he is in talks with National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to construct 13kms cycle track at Loduwal Bypass.
Meanwhile, People from different walks of life including industrialists, doctors, students, officials etc participated in the rally while adhering to all the COVID-19 safety protocols including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. Participants were also provided refreshment.
