Continuing its campaign to retrieve panchayati land from the illegal possessions, Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar on Thursday led Ludhiana District Administration to set three kanals of commercial land free from illegal occupants in village Balloke in Ludhiana District.

Accompanied by MLA Jeevan Singh Sangowal, SDM Dr. Harjinder Singh, Divisional Deputy Director Jagjivanjit Singh Sandhu, DDPO Navdeep Kaur, the minister while interacting with the media said that Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had initiated a special drive to free panchayati land in the state under which over 12,000 acres of panchayati land has been set free so far. He further mentioned that the land in Balloke village is commercial in nature which holds significance from financial standpoint. This land will be utilized for welfare of villages as income generated through it would be spent on the development of this village, he said.
The minister mentioned that the honourable Punjab and Haryana high court had directed the Joint Commissioner Development (JCD) to decide the matter of this land, who after thorough enquiry has decided this case in the favour of village Panchayat, following which the possession has been taken and handed over to village Panchayat.
The minister has also lauded the efforts of residents of village Balloke to retrieve this prime land.
The minister also stated that the state government was minutely monitoring this task so that not even an inch of panchayati lands remained unattended by the authorities. He also warned those who were illegally encroaching upon panchayati land to leave the possession failing which the stern action would be initiated as per law. He added that this drive would remain active still entire land is set free from illegal occupants.
