Ludhiana, April 9, 2025: In a significant move to enhance Ludhiana's road infrastructure, Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora jointly laid the foundation stone for a 200-foot-wide, 1.7-kilometer bituminous road project extending from Malerkotla Road to the Sidhwan Canal Lohara Bridge.
This Rs 31.14 crore project is scheduled for completion within five-months, promising improved connectivity and smoother travel for commuters.
The ambitious initiative, known as Missing Link-2 (Part-C), will include civil works, public health amenities, landscaping, and electrical installations. The road will feature medians, streetlights, and a robust infrastructure designed for durability. The contracted firm is tasked with completing the project within set timeframe and providing a five-year maintenance plan to ensure long-term quality and functionality. Emphasis has been placed on resilience and commuter convenience.
During the stone-laying ceremony, Mundian and Arora highlighted the project's broader impact. “This road will transform accessibility, drive economic growth, and enhance the quality of life for residents of Ludhiana and beyond,” they stated. The initiative aligns with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision of elevating Ludhiana into a world-class city through enhanced road infrastructure and sustainable urban development. The project is expected to alleviate traffic congestion, boost local commerce, and provide a vital link between key areas of the city.
Mundian and Arora reiterated the government's commitment to timely execution. “With a five-month timeline and a five-year maintenance guarantee, the government is ensuring accountability and high-quality materials,” they added. This road marks another milestone in Punjab’s on-going efforts to modernize urban road infrastructure.
