Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond Inaugurates Punjab State Inter-Varsity Youth Festival
Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond inaugurated the three-day Punjab State Inter-Varsity Youth Festival at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Friday. The festival is organized by the Youth Services Department of the Punjab government.
Ludhiana, November 29, 2024: Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond inaugurated the three-day Punjab State Inter-Varsity Youth Festival at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Friday. The festival is organized by the Youth Services Department of the Punjab government.
In his address, after lighting the lamp in Dr. Manmohan Singh Auditorium, Sond stated that the Punjab government is committed to the welfare of youth. He emphasized the government's efforts to channel the energy of young people in positive directions by holding such youth festivals throughout the state.
Sond urged the youth of Punjab to actively participate in eradicating social evils and contribute to socio-economic development. He mentioned that both the Tourism & Cultural Affairs and Youth Services departments are working to elevate Punjab’s rich culture and called for the support of the youth in this initiative.
The Minister highlighted that such festivals build confidence among young people, helping them emerge as leaders in society. He encouraged youngsters to participate in youth festivals to discover their hidden talents in arts, music, dance, and to gain exposure on national and international platforms. He added that art and culture significantly contribute to personal development, and youth festivals provide a valuable opportunity for young individuals to showcase their unique talents.
Sond praised the efforts of the organizing department and expressed his full support for future endeavors. He also stated that teams from leading 15 universities are participating in 51 different cultural and heritage competitions during the festival. Over the four days, participants will display their talents in events such as Giddha, Bhangra, poetry, Ghazal, theatre, and various heritage arts competitions, with more than 2,500 young individuals.
Furthermore, renowned Punjabi artists will perform during the festival's cultural night program.
