Cambridge English welcomes Jalandhar School to its global network

Jalandhar, February 24, 2015: Cambridge English Language Assessment, a department of England’s Cambridge University, welcomed Learning Wings Education Systems as the latest centre to join to its global network of Authorised Exam Centres, in a ceremony held at Cambridge International School for Girls. The foundation stone was laid in Cambridge International School Jalandhar on February 24, 2015 by Chief Operating Officer, Cambridge Language Assessment Roger Johnson. On this occasion other distinguished were Regional Director for South Asia, Angela ffrench and Professional support leader Cambridge English, South Asia Rajni Badlani, The event began with the ceremony of welcoming the distinguished guests, followed by lamp lighting by the guest of honour I.A.S officer, Director, Department of Technical Education And Industrial Training , B Purushartha . Students mesmerised the audience with their Sufi song.

Chief Operating Officer, Cambridge Language Assessment, Roger Johnson said” I am delighted that Learning Wings has become part of a global Family of more than 2,500 Authorised centres and 50,000 preparation centres. To meet the expectations has had to meet our stringent requirements and to demonstrate its commitment to offering English language assessment of the highest quality. Pupils at the school will now be able to gain internationally recognised qualifications, and just as importantly, in preparing for their exams they will develop effective communicative skills in English that will be useful for study and work throughout their lives.”  

The delegates were addressed by Dr. Rajni Badlani, Professional Support Leader, Cambridge English, South Asia, which was followed by the seminar on Learning Oriented Assessment. The key note of this event was a speech  by Regional Director for South Asia, Angela ffrench, who presented the latest thinking and research on learning oriented assessment, an approach to language teaching championed by Cambridge English, which uses evidence from formal and informal assessment to help teacher and their pupils to focus on individual strengths and weaknesses.

The event also included a conference attended by over 300 invited delegates.

Academic Director, LWES, Deepa Dogra presented the vote of thanks. The event was concluded by  Bhangra Dance presented by Cambridge students.

The other dignitaries present on the occasion were Chairman, Learning Wings, Ajay Bhatia, Deputy Chairman Deepak Bhatia, Director Learning Wings J. K. Kohli, Nitin Kohli, Vice Principal Preeti Sharma, Kiranjot Dhillon, Principal, Coed and Meenu Huria, Principal CIS (IB) and  the esteemed Coordinators of CISFG and CIS (Co Ed).
