Canadian International School student earns multiple laurels in motor racing
Rohaan Madesh clocked the fastest times in the country in Senior National Championship
Bangalore, December 6, 2023: In yet another show of exceptional talent from a student of Canadian International School (CIS), 16-year-old IB1 (Grade 11) Student, Rohaan Madesh achieved many laurels in the recent past in the field of Motor Sport. He was the first Indian to be selected in the debut season of F4 that is being held in Chennai. He prepared for the F4 Championship in the MRF2000 cars series and won multiple podiums proving he was training hard to debut in India’s first F4 season at Sri Perambalur, the Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT).
Rohaan has been working his way up in the sport with a number of other notable achievements to his name. Rohaan was moving fast and participated in prestigious tournaments winning across formats and showing that his driving skills were second to none.
In 2023, he turned Senior Rotax Max Champion and Represented India at the World Finals in Portugal qualifying Second fastest among 76 drivers across 76 countries. Last year, he also bagged the championship in the Meridus Cup and was part of the Rotax International Dubai Oplate. In 2021, Rohaan was named Champion in X30 National Championship and Second runner up in Rotax National Championship. In 2020, Rohaan turned Vice Champion in the X30 National Championship, in 2019, the youngster represented India at Rotax World Finals, France and became Vice Champion Rotax National Championship. In 2018, he represented India at X30 World Finals, France, was Vice Champion Rotax National Championship and Vice Champion at X30 National Championship. Rohaan closed the year with an amazing 4 wins and incredible 10 podium finishes. In 2017, the racer had Podium finish in Asia Max Championship, Malaysia and was National Rookie Champion (Mini).
“Racing has taught me a lot about focus and consistency. I have learned about data and how to analyze the car’s mechanics which helps me better my overall performance. Racing needs a high level of fitness including a lot of stamina and muscle strength to be able to perform through the entire race. I exercise on a daily basis and undertake strength training. My family has been my biggest support system throughout this journey. My peer group at school constantly support me with my academics which in turn helps me focus on my sport. I strongly believe racing is a sport that teaches you precision, calculation, planning and execution,” says the star racer Rohaan.
Rohaan started racing when he was 7-years-old with a Bangalore-based team and later trained in Malaysia to equip himself to race internationally. Watching a lot of F1 racing and European Karting excited Rohaan into exploring this sport. Rohaan, now after 8yrs of Karting has moved to cars and is racing the Formula 4 cars this year.
