Canal based water supply project: Cabinet Minister Mundian and Mayor Inderjit Kaur lays foundation stones for projects worth Rs 47.30 crore for construction of two overhead water reservoirs and installation of associated pipeline in Bhamian area

Ludhiana, April 12, 2025: Advancing the mission of the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann to provide quality civic amenities to the public, Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur kick started projects worth around Rs 47.30 crore for construction of two overhead water reservoirs and installation of associated pipeline in Bhamian area (ward number 22) under world bank funded canal based water supply project on Saturday.
While the overhead water reservoirs would be constructed at a cost of around Rs 7.30 crore, the associated water supply pipeline would be installed at a cost of around Rs 40 crore.
Councillor Jaspal Singh Grewal, MC Chief Engineer Ravinder Garg, Executive Engineer Parshotam Singh, PIU Executive Engineer Amarjeet Singh, AE Jarnail Singh and Maninder Singh, Communication Specialist Jaspreet Singh among others were also present on the occasion.
Cabinet minister Mundian said that the two overhead reservoirs, with a capacity of around 31.40 lakh litres, would be established in Trikona Park, Bhamiyan and Ansal Enclave. He further stated that overhead reservoirs are also being constructed in other areas of the city under the canal based water supply project.
He further stated that a world class water treatment plant (WTP) would be constructed in village Bilga (near Sahnewal) from where treated surface water would be supplied to the city. The first phase of the canal based water supply project is being taken up at a cost of around Rs 1300 crore (civil works).
Cabinet Minister Mundian and Mayor Inderjit Kaur expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for his strong leadership and commitment for providing quality facilities to the citizens. They highlighted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led state government has been consistently launching major people-centric initiatives. They stated that more development projects worth crores would be launched in the city in the coming days.
Cabinet Minister Mundian and Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur also appealed to the public to stop wastage of water and support the authorities in keeping the city clean and green.
