Aykai Academic & Research Trust , in collaboration with World Cancer Care (WCC), successfully conducted a Cancer Screening Camp aimed at promoting early detection and prevention of cancer at Aykai hospital Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, February 15, 2025: Aykai Academic & Research Trust , in collaboration with World Cancer Care (WCC), successfully conducted a Cancer Screening Camp aimed at promoting early detection and prevention of cancer at Aykai hospital Ludhiana.

The camp was graced & inaugurated by Kultar Singh Sandhwan Speaker Punjab legislative Assembly & Mayor Ludhiana Inderjit Kaur.Other dignitaries also took part in this camp like Daljit Singh Grewal,MLA , Nidhi Gupta, Councillor, Amarjit Singh Councillor, SDM Jasleen Bhullar, IPS.Rupinder,Singh.

Addressing the gathering, Sandhwan applauded the joint efforts of AART, and WCC in the fight against cancer. He emphasised that people should not fear cancer screenings but instead come forward for timely investigations, as early detection can save lives.

\Mayor of the city Inderjit added such kind of camps works as a support system for people who are not able to get their investigations done ,people should take more n more advantage of this camp so that early detection can save many lives.

The camp provided free cancer screenings worth up to ₹10,000 for various types of cancer, including kidney, colorectal, cervical, uterine, liver, breast, brain, and prostate cancer. Screening tests such as mammography for breast cancer, Pap smear for cervix cancer, PSA and USG tests for prostate cancer, oral screening for head and neck cancers, stool test for colo-rectal cancer and blood tests for various abdominal cancers were conducted. Around 500 people benefited from free screenings and consultations, with a 30% discount offered on surgical cancer treatments.

Dr. Baldev Singh Aulakh ,Uro-Onco Surgeon/Chief Urologist & Transplany Surgeon Chairman Aykai highlighted that cancer remains one of the leading causes of death, and its early detection is crucial for effective treatment. He expressed concern over the increasing cases of prostate and kidney cancer among younger individuals, a trend that was previously observed mainly in people above 50.

"To serve society and save precious lives, AART is committed to providing world-class healthcare facilities. Through this initiative, we aim to benefit not only the local population but also people from surrounding areas," Dr. Aulakh added.

This successful camp reinforced the importance of awareness, early detection, and timely medical intervention in the battle against cancer.
