Cancer Survival Day observed today in Dayanand Medical College and Hospital

Ludhiana, March 29, 2017: Cancer Survival Day was observed today in Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, which was attended by a large number of patients suffering from cancer and among them, there were many who had got completely cure from this dreadful disease. The day was celebrated with full enthusiasm by patients, doctors and hospital staff in Dumra Auditorium.

The inauguration of the programme was done by Secretary of DMCH Managing Society Sh Prem Kumar Gupta along with Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, Medical Supdt Dr Sandeep Sharma and others. Secretary Sh Prem Gupta said that DMCH has always taken an initiative to provide best possible care to the cancer patients.

Dr GS Brar (Head, Surgical Oncology) said that DMCH provides highest level pf cancer care by the combined efforts of all clinicians, paraclincial, administration and supporting staff.

The programme began with prayer of ‘Japji Sahib’ by Harjot Singh, followed by Yoga and Meditation techniques by Dr Sanjeev Singh Rawat. Motivational Speaker Dr Maryn Daniel shared with audience very informative information which is essential to fight dreadful disease like cancer. During the programme, patients performed in different activities including singing, dancing and poetry. The patients present on the function shared their experiences with the audience. They expressed that fighting ‘cancer’ needs lot of will-power and positive attitude and also support of their family members in helping them to fight cancer.

Painting competition was also held by children suffering from cancer and all the participants were given appreciation awards. Paintings made by patients were displayed and conveyed very thought-provoking ideas.

Very soon, a new state-of-art Cancer Centre will soon be functional in DMCH which will provide a comprehensive medical care to the cancer patients.
