Capacity Building Programme on Art Integration
A Capacity Building Programme was held at DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur on Tuesday under the aegis of DAV CAE New Delhi and the leadership of Dr. Rashmi Vij, ARO Jalandhar Zone and Principal of Police DAV Public School, Jalandhar and Cluster Head and Principal Dr. Yogesh Gambhir.
Jalandhar, September 11, 2024: A Capacity Building Programme was held at DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur on Tuesday under the aegis of DAV CAE New Delhi and the leadership of Dr. Rashmi Vij, ARO Jalandhar Zone and Principal of Police DAV Public School, Jalandhar and Cluster Head and Principal Dr. Yogesh Gambhir. The programme focused on Lesson Planning and Art Integration for teachers of classes III-XII from DRA DAV Public School Atta,Goraya, S.R. Tangri DAV Public School Bilga, M. D. Dayanand Model School, Nakodar and the teachers of the host school.
The event featured three resource persons, Amita Sharma, Ranju Bala, and Nidhi Masand from DRV DAV Cent. Public School, Phillaur, who shared their expertise and insights, creating a vibrant and interactive atmosphere for the participants. The session began by “Lesson Plan Format and its Components” with an objective of bringing uniformity in lesson planning among different DAV schools across Jalandhar region, followed by explaining the distinction between Arts as a curriculum, Arts-enhanced curriculum, and Art-integrated curriculum. Their in-depth discussions were supplemented with hands-on activities, making the seminar highly interactive. These activities provided teachers with practical strategies and firsthand experience on how to effectively integrate art into their teaching practices.
A special emphasis was placed on the importance of teaching values and the hidden curriculum through Art Integration. The resource persons highlighted the role of art in not only enhancing academic content but also in shaping students into well-rounded individuals, making them better human beings. This aspect was thoroughly explored, along with discussions on the positive impact of Art Integration on student engagement and learning outcomes.
Key concepts covered in the seminar included “Why Arts in Education?”, “Art Integration through Experiential Learning,” and the use of appropriate “Materials and Resources.” The resource persons also shared details about the latest “CBSE Initiatives” supporting the inclusion of art in education, providing valuable guidance to educators on incorporating these practices effectively.
Sanjeev Gujral, Principal of S.R. Tangri DAV Public School, Bilga was present as an observer during the workshop. His insights and observations added value to the discussions and contributed to the overall effectiveness of the session.
Principal Dr. Yogesh Gambhir appreciated the resource persons for their valuable contributions to the programme. He acknowledged their dedication in helping teachers understand and implement Art Integration in their classrooms, making learning more creative and enjoyable for students.
