Chandigarh, May 29, 2024: The Department of Philosophy, in collaboration with the Department of Sociology, recently hosted a captivating lecture by esteemed scholar Dr. Ishwar Singh Dost. The event, which took place at the Seminar Hall of Dept. of Sociology, PU, Chandigarh, focused on the pertinent theme of Education Studies and Interdisciplinary approaches.

Dr. Ishwar Singh Dost, an Associate Professor at the prestigious School of Education, Azim Premji University, Bhopal, delivered a thought-provoking lecture that delved deep into the essence of education. With an emphasis on the overarching aims and objectives of education, Dr. Dost challenged traditional notions, prompting attendees to reflect on whether the current education system truly encompasses the breadth of knowledge essential for holistic learning.

During his address, Dr. Dost raised fundamental questions about the nature of education itself. He prompted the audience to ponder whether education is confined solely to structured academic programs such as Graduation or Post Graduation, or if it extends to a profound observation of the world, society, and nature around us. He provocatively questioned whether disciplines like education, history, or physics are confined within the boundaries of their respective departments, or if their principles permeate other fields of study, such as philosophy.

Furthermore, Dr. Dost sparked a lively dialogue about the efficacy of the present education system in providing a comprehensive understanding of the world. He questioned whether the current system adequately addresses the gaps necessary for a well-rounded education, prompting attendees to critically evaluate their own educational experiences.

The lecture culminated in a highly engaging interactive session, where attendees actively participated in a dynamic exchange of ideas. Questions were posed, insights were shared, and perspectives were challenged, contributing to a rich and stimulating intellectual discourse.
