Ludhiana, December 3, 2018: Reacting to the demolition of Jhuggis at Dr Ambedkar Nagar, Rishi Nagar Ludhiana the Communist Party of India has demanded that plots/flats of 50 square yards should be allotted to the affected families at nearby place. They have been living here for the last 30-35 years and have their work in this area. Their children also study in the nearby schools. Party leaders condemned the attitude of the administration who even did not bother the request of the residents to grant period up to March when their children will finish the session. It is disgraceful that government and administration can be so apathetic towards the poor people, whereas ten days time has been given to nearby encroachers which in fact means an eyewash because they are moneyed and influential people. Whereas the administration is out to dislodge the poor people from their places of living, it is to be noted that the land Mafia has occupied nearly 28% of the government land while the area occupied by the Jhuggis is not even1% of the government land.
It is to noted further that the flats made by the government for poor people are not worth living and are in very poor unhygienic condition.
The statement was issued by party leaders including Comrades D P Maur- district secretary, Dr Arun Mitra, Chamkaur Singh M S Bhatia, Ramesh Rattan, Gurnam Singh Sidhu, Vijay Kumar and Randhir singh Dheera.
