CBI arrests executive engineer of CPWD in bribery case

Jalandhar, February 7, 2013 : The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Executive Engineer of Central Public works, Department, Thrissur Central Division, Thrissur ,Kerala for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000  from the complainant.                                              

A case was registered U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 against  an Executive Engineer, Central Public Works Department, Thrissur Central Division, Thrissur  on the complaint of a Contractor of CPWD based at Thrissur. The complainant alleged that the accused had given him a contract for putting the tiles to an Institute at Trichur as per the agreement dated February 18, 2012. When the complainant submitted the first bill, the accused had demanded an amount of Rs.15,000 as bribe and also told him that after getting the bribe amount only, he would pass the bill for payment. 

Accordingly, CBI, laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000 from the Complainant. Searches were conducted at the premises of accused. Further investigation is continuing.
