New Delhi/Jalandhar, October 3, 2013:  The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Income Tax Inspector posted at ITAT, Mumbai; a Sub Inspector of Delhi Police posted at Police Station Sarai Rohilla, Delhi; three other public servants including a Translator; three private persons and five candidates/students who were allegedly tampering  with the due selection procedure of TIER-II of Combined Graduate Level Examination conducted by Staff  Selection Commission on September 29 this year.

A case was registered by CBI on the allegations that the members of the said group adopted a unique modus operandi and got question paper leaked in criminal conspiracy with unknown officials.  Thereafter, the accused got the same solved with the assistance of experts. Further, when the examination was being held, they communicated the answer keys to the aspiring candidates in the examination hall through their mobile phones and other such devices in exchange of money. The aspiring candidates while working in close nexus with said group had carried the mobile sets and other such devices in the examination hall while concealing the same in their clothing.

Investigation has so far revealed that this gang was involved in leaking the paper from Hisar. After leaking of the paper, it was allegedly scanned and e-mailed to other members of the group. Thereafter, answer keys of the examination papers were made and same was circulated through mobile phones (Whats app) for onward transmission to other members of the group. The aspirants were allegedly charged Rs.10 to 20 lakhs for providing above said answer keys during examination via mobile phone. These candidates were also equipped with mobile and Bluetooth devices etc. while they were appearing in the examination.

The arrested accused were earlier produced before the Designated Court, Delhi and were remanded to Police Custody till 03.10.2013. Today, the Court remanded three accused i.e Sub Inspector of Delhi Police; a Translator and a private person to Police Custody till 06.10.2013 and sent other accused persons to Judicial Custody.

Further investigation is continuing.
