CBI registers case against two Railway Officers and six private persons in alleged bribery

New Delhi, May 4, 2014: The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against a Chief Administrative Officer & Chief Engineer (Construction), both working in N.E Railways and six private persons/contractors including a Chief Editor of a small time fortnightly magazine.
It was alleged that the private Contractors in conspiracy with others had paid certain illegal gratification to Senior Railway Officials in order to manage contract worth   Rs.58 Crores (approx.) relating to construction of three Rail Over-Bridge between Maharaj Ganj and Masrakh in NER Zone in Bihar.
Searches have been conducted at twelve different locations at the residence and office premises of Senior Railway Officials and other accused persons at Gorakhpur (UP), Chhapra (Bihar) and Mumbai. During these searches, huge cash, jewellary, bank accounts, fixed deposits, documents of properties and other incriminating documents were recovered. Certain documents allegedly relating to transfer & posting of railway and award of railway officers & contracts were also recovered during searches at the premises of a private person.
Further investigation is continuing.
