CCSHAU signs MoU with Bioseed Research India

New Delhi/Jalandhar, August 7, 2013: Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today with a Hyderabad based company namely Bioseed Research India.

While stating this today, a spokesman of the University said that under the agreement, the company has been granted a non-exclusive license for a period of five years for production and marketing of seed of one hybrid of maize - HPQM-1 developed by the university.

Director of Research, Dr. S.S. Siwatch on behalf of the university and Dr. R.M. Singh on behalf of the seed company signed the MoU.

Dr. Siwatch said that maize hybrids of CCSHAU are in great demand among private seed companies across the country. He said the average yield of maize hybrid, HPQM-1 is 55 quintal per ha in kharif. Besides, this hybrid is suitable for human consumption and poultry feed and could be cultivated all over the country.     

The Director, Human Resource Management of the University, Dr. Ram Singh said that this was the 16th license being granted to a private seed company for production and marketing of seeds of maize hybrids.

Head, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Dr. H.P. Yadav, Business Manager, Business Planning and Development Unit,  Manisha Mani, and Senior Cotton Breeder, Bioseed Research India, Dr. A.S. Ansingkar were also present on this occasion.
