CDOE, Panjab University, Hosts First-Ever Massive Job Placement Drive for Distance Learners

The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), Panjab University, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the District Bureau of Employment & Enterprises (DBEE), Mohali, today organised its first-ever large-scale job placement drive and workshop for distance learners.

Chandigarh, 13 February 2025: The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), Panjab University, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the District Bureau of Employment & Enterprises (DBEE), Mohali, today organised its first-ever large-scale job placement drive and workshop for distance learners. 

The event catered to students from various disciplines, including BA, B.Com., MA, M.Com., and MBA, offering them employment opportunities across multiple sectors. As many as 14 companies participated in the drive, recruiting for industries such as banking, IT, BPO, Airlines and Tourism, Hospitality, Automobiles, and Human Resources. Some companies also offered work-from-home options, with salary packages ranging from Rs.15,000 to Rs.35,000 per month. Out of 900 registered students, around 284 were shortlisted for interviews, with 143 securing immediate placement. The results of six companies will be announced after the second technical session. 

Under the visionary leadership of Prof. Harsh Gandhar, Director of CDOE, the event was meticulously planned and executed over several months. Prof. Rumina Sethi, Dean University Instruction (DUI), attended the event as the Chief Guest and lauded the department’s efforts in generating employment opportunities for distance learners. Prof. YojnaRawat, Director of the Research and Development Cell, was present as the Guest of Honour. Other Distinguished Guests included Prof. Meena Sharma, Director of the Central Placement Cell, Panjab University; Dr. Vineet Punia, Director of Public Relations; Mrs. Minakshi Goyal, Deputy Director, EGSC&T, Chandigarh; and Mr.Harpreet Singh Mansahia, Deputy Director, DBEE, SAS Nagar. 

Dr. Ravinder Kaur, Convener of the Placement Cell, played a crucial role in organising the drive, supported by Prof. SangeetaMalhotra, Prof. Geeta Bansal, Prof. Supreet Kaur, Dr.  Kamla, Dr. Purva Mishra, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Jaiswal, Dr. Mritunjay Kumar and Mr.Gautam Behl. 

The dedicated efforts of the entire teaching and non-teaching staff ensured the smooth execution of the event.This successful placement drive marks a significant milestone for CDOE, strengthening its commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and employability for distance learners. The initiative sets a strong precedent for future career-oriented events, enhancing industry-academia collaboration at Panjab University.
