CDS awards at on-going annual conference of Chemical engineers

Chandigarh, December 27, 2014: Various noted scientists and renowned Chemical Engineers were awarded today with “Chemcon Distinguished Speaker (CDS)” awards at the on-going annual conference of Chemical engineers “CHEMCON-2014”. The speakers were also given honorarium, Medal and certificates as part of the CDS awards.

Director of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune Prof.Krishna N Ganesh was awarded with Ashland Bharat Ratna, Prof. C N R Rao Medal and CDS Award. He was given Rs.40,000 honorarium, Gold Medal and Citation. He accorded the audience with the knowledge of “Molecular engineering of conformational transitions in spiegelmers”.

The United Phosphorus CDS Award was presented to Prof.Sarma V Pisupati, who is a Professor and Chair of the Energy Engineering Program, and Director of Online Education in the Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering at Pennsylvania State University, USA.

The last CDS award of the inaugural day of CHEMCON-2014 was awarded to Prof. Yen Wah Tong from Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering of National University of Singapore. He spoke on the advancements in “Approach into handling municipal solid wastes in megacities through a hybrid chemical-biological approach.”

The first day of 67th annual session of IIChE, CHEMCON-2014, ended with a cultural glimpse presented by students of Dr. SSB UICET in collaboration with North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala. The students dedicated their performance to the victims of Peshawar attack.  The first evening ended on a high with a breath-pausing performance by star Kathak performer of the country, Swati Wangnoo.
