To celebrate 74th Founding Day of AIBEA, Punjab Bank Employees Federation (Ludhiana Unit) holds Blood Donation Camp
Ludhiana, April 20, 2019: To celebrate 74th Founding Day of AIBEA, Punjab Bank Employees Federation (Ludhiana Unit) held Blood Donation Camp at Punjab Trade Centre, Opposite Manju Cinema, Industrial Area 1-B, Adjoining State Bank of India, Miller Ganj Branch, Ludhiana. More than 100 bank employees donated blood on this day. Com.S.K.Gautam, Joint Secretary AIBEA & General Secretary, Punjab Bank Employees Federation, Com.P.R.Mehta, President, Com. Naresh Gaur, Dy. General Secretary and other prominent leaders of Punjab Bank Employees Federation were also present on this occasion. While congratulating the bank employees on the 74th Foundation Day of AIBEA, leaders of the Federation said that today is the 74th Founding Day of our beloved AIBEA thus marking the completion of 73 years of glorious existence. As in every year, we shall celebrate the occasion in a befitting manner. All that bank employees enjoy today – better wages, secured service conditions, safe jobs and total job security, fortified trade union rights, right to collective bargaining and bipartism – are the results of unity of the employees, loyalty to the organisation and continued militant struggles under the banner of AIBEA. They further said we are also proud that AIBEA played a pioneering role in fighting for nationalisation of Banks and today we are fighting against all attempts to privatise these Banks. All of us certainly understand that the days ahead are going to be tough and more challenging because of the hostile policies of the Government. Banking industry will be under severe attack. The private corporate who are responsible for huge bad loans are now demanding privatisation to swallow our public sector Banks. Hence we need to unite more, and we need to fight more. We need to defend our jobs and job security, we need to fight for betterment in the living and serving conditions of bank employees. We need to secure and safeguard the future of the thousands of young bank employees who have joined the Banks in the recent years with a lot of expectations. Their jobs and job security are the priority issue before us today because there are policies of contract jobs and outsourcing our regular and permanent jobs. There are attempts to curtail recruitments of permanent employees. There are attempts to offer more salary if we surrender permanent jobs for contract jobs. Choice before us is – should we give priority only for some more money or should we preserve our jobs and job security which is at risk. In AIBEA, we are clear – money is no doubt important but job security is more important. We need more permanent jobs for the young people. We can’t mortgage the future of younger generation for the sake of few chips. Government wants Fixed Term Employment. This is nothing but fixing the date of divorce on the date of marriage. They added we need to fight against outsourcing and demand adequate recruitments. We also need to ensure vibrant public sector banks in the larger interest of our country. Big people are cheating the Banks and running away from the country without repaying the bank loans. Government itself is facilitating concessions for defaulters in the name of IBC and Banks are forced to suffer huge haircuts. We also find that the burden of bad loans is foisted on the shoulders of the banking public. All these attacks and challenges can be faced only through our unity and sustained struggle. We need more strong unions. Our past has been glorious. It is in our hands to make the future more splendid and meaningful. Strong banks will help us to have a bright future. Strong AIBEA will ensure our safe and secured future. Adding they said we all know that donation of blood is a social cause. This is also for the society in which we live. Our struggles and sacrifices are not only for bank employees but also for the people of this society. It is of utmost importance to save one's live who is in need of blood. It is never going to be wasted. It gives life to someone. Com. Harvinder Singh, Com Jarnail Singh, Joint Secretaries, Com. Rajesh Verma, Dy. General Secretary, Com.
