Celebration of National Mathematics Day at Lyallpur Khalsa College
National Mathematics Day was celebrated by Post Graduate Department of Mathematics, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar in collaboration with Punjab State Council for Science and Technology Chandigarh in which more than 320 students from 23 colleges participated.
Jalandhar, March 14, 2023: National Mathematics Day was celebrated by Post Graduate Department of Mathematics, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar in collaboration with Punjab State Council for Science and Technology Chandigarh in which more than 320 students from 23 colleges participated. The chief guest of the function was Dr. R.R. Sinha, Associate Professor, NIT, Jalandhar.
Principal Prof. Jasreen Kaur and Dr. Harjit Singh Head Department of Mathematics welcomed the chief guest by giving bouquets. Principal Prof. Jasreen Kaur, while addressing on this occasion, said that this day, being celebrated by the Department of Mathematics, is a very commendable event. She said that today is also a Pi Day, which has an important place in mathematics. She said that such events, where students are excited about the subject, also reveal new possibilities of research in this field. She said that we are happy that our students are taking interest in mathematics and getting good placements.
On this occasion, the chief guest Dr. Sinha presented his views regarding the importance and relevance of Mathematics Day. During the event, inter-college competitions of various events were also conducted like Poster Presentation, Model Presentation, Power Point Presentation, Rangoli, Quiz, Debate, Extempore etc. All these events were themed around the importance of mathematics subject and the possibilities of research in mathematics and the contribution of mathematics to the society. DAV College won the overall trophy and the SSM College, Dina Nagar won first runner-up trophy and DAV University won second runner-up trophy in this event.
At the end of the event, Dr. Harjit Singh thanked the Chief Guest, Principal Prof. Jasreen Kaur, students and all the staff.
During the event, Dr. Dinkar Sharma presented the objectives of mathematics and encouraged the students to opt mathematics in graduation. Stage management was done by Dr. Palwinder Singh and Prof. Nitika Chugh.
On this occasion, Prof. Priyanka, Prof. Manish Goyal, Prof. Ajitpal Singh, Prof. Satpal Singh, Prof. Navneet Kaur, Prof. Harjinder Kaur, Prof. Onkar Singh, Prof. Jaskiran Kaur, Prof. Prabhdeep Kaur, Prof. Mandeep Singh and Miss Ramandeep Kaur played a special role as Deputy Coordinators in various events.
The event was concluded by giving importance, promotion and dissemination of mathematics subject. On this occasion, apart from the head of various departments, all the staff and students also participated.
