Guru Har Gobind Khalsa College (Degree and Pharmacy), Gurusar Sadhar, celebrated the traditional Punjabi festival of 'Teej' with great enthusiasm, continuing a cherished annual tradition.

Ludhiana, September 10, 2024: Guru Har Gobind Khalsa College (Degree and Pharmacy), Gurusar Sadhar, celebrated the traditional Punjabi festival of 'Teej' with great enthusiasm, continuing a cherished annual tradition. 

The cultural event took place at the Nihang Shamsher Singh Hall and featured special guests Ajay Bector and Samira Bector from Bector's Creamica Enterprises Limited, Ludhiana. The college principal, Prof. Inderjeet Singh, warmly welcomed the guests and provided an overview of the college’s historical legacy.


The guests highlighted the significance of cultural programs in schools and colleges as a means of connecting the younger generation with their heritage. They praised Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, for organizing such events and for inviting distinguished personalities. Samira Bector, known for her extensive social work, has made notable contributions to the education of children with special needs through the school 'Ek Priyas' since 1998 and is also a prominent figure in the Yogoda Satsanga Society.


Manjit Singh Gill, President of the G.H.G. Khalsa College’s governing council, emphasized the college’s commitment to organizing these programs and introducing students to eminent personalities to help them achieve greater success.


The NSS Hall was beautifully decorated, and various food stalls were set up in the college lawns. A stall featuring kheer and malpua became the main attraction. A display showcasing Punjabi heritage, including traditional utensils, weapons, clothes, jewellery, and other household items, was also a major highlight. Awards were presented to students in several categories: 'Queen of Teej' to Simranpreet Kaur, 'Sunakhi Mutiyaar' to Anmoldeep Kaur, 'Dand Chambe Dia Kalian' to Harmandeep Kaur, 'Giddea di Melan' to Jaspreet Kaur, 'Sohna Punjabi Pehrava' to Ravinder Kaur, 'Madak Wali Tor' to Gurleen Kaur, 'Morni Wargi Dhon' to Harmanpreet Kaur, and 'Shaukan Mele Di' to Harnoor Kaur. The judging panel included Harpreet Kaur, Director of Shining Camps Music and Dance Academy, Ludhiana, and Sonia Chhabra, Head of Mission Smile NGO, Ludhiana. The winning students received their awards from the college.


At the end of the event, Dr. Satwinder Kaur, Principal of the College of Pharmacy, expressed gratitude and emphasized the importance of such cultural events. Other notable attendees included Hareena Gill, Dr. Pragat Singh Garcha, Principal of the College of Education, and former Principal Harjinder Singh Brar.
