CELEBRATIONS: Legal Services Day celebrated

Ferozeur, November 10, 2012:  The District Legal Services Authority organised inter-college competitions to create awareness with a motive to keep the students away from social evils.

Manju Rana, In-charge, District and Sessions Judge, attended the function as chief guest.  She said, such competitions are being organised in the Punjab state to make best use of the student’s power.  She further said, the students who will stand first, second and third will participate in the district level youth festival being held at Bathinda on November 15.

On this occasion, documentary, skit, slogan, posters preparation, speeches, poetry recitation, photography and power point presentation competitions were held, which are related to women empowerment, domestic violence act, female foeticide, drug addiction, corruption, environment, security, child labour and rights of senior citizens.

Jaspal Verma, secretary, district legal services authority informed, the winning students were presented with appreciation letter and cash prizes. 

R. K. Sharma, ADS (Legal Services) informed, every year November 9 is celebrated as Legal Services Day and to celebrate this day, inter-college competitions are organised.

In this programme, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Jatinder Pal Singh Khurmi, Sumeet Malhotra, Additional District and Session Judges, Karnail Singh, CJM (Senior Division), Judicial Offices, president Bar Association, advocates, Amrik Singh, DPRO, Sarabjeet Singh Bedi, district youth coordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Ravi Kant Gupta, chairman, Dev Raj Group of Colleges, Surjit Singh Sidhu, chairman Baba Kundan Singh College Muhar besides heads of colleges and students, were present.
