Dharamshala, January 21, 2018: The ex-CM Himachal Pradesh and present BJP MP from Kangra Shanta Kumar has said that as the Modi-led central government has declared Chamba district of his constituency as a backward district, it has come under the category, to get special financial assistance for its development. He said that this is a great gift of the Centre to the newly elected state government of BJP.
Shanta Kumar thanked the central government along with Union Health Minister JP Nadda, who shall be visiting Chamba shortly in this connection. He added there are so many districts in the country, which are financially backward and people residing there are extremely poor, because the development was ignored in those areas. “Government of India has implemented a programme where such districts shall be developed under special schemes,” he said.
He said a cement industry is required for the fast development of the Chamba district, adding the area has a high quality stone in abundance for the said industry. “I am trying to get this industry set up here, for the last so many years. If established it can be a much larger industry than already set up in Barmana and Darlaghat of the state.” He added thousands of locals can be absorbed in this industry.
He urged the health minister JP Nadda and the CM Jai Ram Thakur to take firm steps in this direction.
