Central Government Initiatives: Himachal Pradesh Airports Identified for Krishi Udan Scheme; Nursing Colleges Approved

In response to a query by Rajya Sabha Member Ms. Indu Bala Goswami, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, announced that three airports in Himachal Pradesh—Kullu (Bhuntar), Dharamsala (Gaggal), and Shimla—have been identified under the Krishi Udan Scheme.

Dharamshala, December 18, 2024: In response to a query by Rajya Sabha Member Ms. Indu Bala Goswami, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, announced that three airports in Himachal Pradesh—Kullu (Bhuntar), Dharamsala (Gaggal), and Shimla—have been identified under the Krishi Udan Scheme.

The scheme aims to utilize air routes for the efficient and uninterrupted transportation of agricultural produce from hilly and tribal regions to market hubs. Minister Mohol highlighted that all perishable crops, including horticultural products, fish, livestock, and processed foods, are covered under the initiative. Nationwide, 58 airports have been selected under the Krishi Udan Yojana to boost the agricultural supply chain.

In a separate response to Ms. Indu Bala Goswami, Union Minister of State for Health, Mrs. Anupriya Patel, announced the approval for the establishment of nursing colleges in Chamba, Hamirpur, and Sirmaur districts of Himachal Pradesh. These colleges, aimed at promoting nursing education, will be developed under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme, with the funding ratio for special category states set at 90:10 between the Central and State Governments.
