Central government responsible for damage to industries due to non-running of trains: Pawan Dewan
says industries are not getting raw material for production
Ludhiana: Pawan Dewan, chairman of the Punjab Large Industrial Development Board, has blamed the Narendra Modi government of the Center for the damage done to industries in the state due to the closure of trains. He said that the economic package of the Center could not become a reality, which the government is now bent on ruining the industries of the state.
In a statement issued here, Dewan said that due to non-operation of trains by the Center, industries are not getting raw material for production. The goods made there are not able to reach the destination. Due to which the world famous Hoisery industry of Ludhiana is in trouble. Other industries are also facing losses. Even the farmers who are opposing the agricultural laws have agreed to let the goods go.
Dewan said that the Center had promised to provide an economic package of 20 thousand crore rupees to the industries, which could not be achieved. But the government is also on the way to shut down the ongoing industry, which could not completely get out of the effects of the Corona infection. Dewan said that due to the closure of trains, the goods of hosiery industry are not able to go to other parts of the country and abroad.
He said that these days traders used to come from outside in Ludhiana, who are unable to reach due to the closure of the trains. Similarly, goods have been stuck at the railway station for several days. If sent by road transport, the cost is increasing, due to which local industries are lagging in the market. He said that the central government should reconsider its decision of not operating the trains regarding which, the Punjab Government is continuously appealing to the Center.
