Central University of Punjab celebrated 77th Independence Day with a Ceremonial Event and several Outreach Activities
The Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) fraternity commemorated the 77th Independence Day of India with patriotic zeal and fervour. As a part of the program, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice-Chancellor, ceremoniously unfurled both the National Flag and the University Flag at the CUPB Campus. The Flag Hoisting Ceremony was gracefully followed by an Inspection of Parade.
Bathinda, August 15, 2023: The Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) fraternity commemorated the 77th Independence Day of India with patriotic zeal and fervour. As a part of the program, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice-Chancellor, ceremoniously unfurled both the National Flag and the University Flag at the CUPB Campus. The Flag Hoisting Ceremony was gracefully followed by an Inspection of Parade.
While addressing the participants, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari conveyed Independence Day greetings to all. He emphasized the importance of the younger generation understanding the profound significance of treasuring our hard-earned independence, as our nation achieved its freedom after enduring the immense pain of partition, alongside the unparalleled sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. He asserted that the sacrifices made by our Dasam Guru Sahibans have taught us to consistently fight against injustice and for the protection of Dharma.
Prof. Tiwari stated that due to the rapid industrialization approach we have adopted, presently the entire world is grappling with the challenge of global warming and rising pollution. Therefore, on this momentous day, every citizen needs to resolve to participate in Govt. of India’s Meri Maati Mera Desh Abhiyaan by contributing to the nourishment of our mother earth and making it a suitable place to live. He underlined that CU Punjab is committed to providing holistic education aimed at nurturing responsible global citizens who can realise the vision of AtmaNirbhar Bharat. He appealed to everyone to keep nation first.
On this occasion, Prof. Tiwari honoured the family members of Constable Shaheed Sewak Singh (who sacrificed his life while patrolling on border in 2023) including Smt. Paramjeet Kaur (Mother), Shri Gaura Singh (Maternal Uncle), and Ms. Jasveer Kaur (Sister).
Furthermore, the Vice-Chancellor commended the achievements of university student Ms. Jasveer Kaur, who secured bronze medal in Gatka competition at the All India Inter University Games held in Jaipur.
Infusing an artistic essence into the event proceedings, students from the Department of Performing and Fine Arts captivated the audience with a majestic performance of patriotic songs, leaving participants thoroughly mesmerized. Towards the end, Prof. B.P. Garg, Controller of Examinations and Registrar (I/c), delivered a formal vote of thanks.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tiwari inaugurated a CUPB developed Bus Stop at Village Ghudda
On the occasion of 77th Independence Day of our country, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice-Chancellor of CUPB, along with the Sarpanch of Village Ghudda and local residents inaugurated a newly constructed Bus Stop at Village Ghudda, District Bathinda. This Bus Stop is constructed by Central University of Punjab to provide a dedicated sitting facility for passengers waiting for buses at Village Ghudda.
Central University of Punjab’s faculty and students pays tribute to the martyrs of nation and honour the families of Bathinda Martyrs under Mera Maati Mera Desh Abhiyaan to mark 77th Independence Day
As a part of 77th Independence Day Celebrations, the faculty, staff and students of the Central University of Punjab enthusiastically participated in an event series organized under Meri Maati Mera Desh Abhiyaan, with the tagline "Mitti ko naman, Veeron ka Vandan.” These activities included a tree plantation drive, Tiranga Rally, paying tribute to martyrs, and honoring the families of martyrs, all conducted under the banner of the Meri Maati Mera Desh Abhiyaan, aimed to nurish our mother earth and honor the nation's heroes.
Marking the occasion, the CUPB fraternity under the leadership of Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice-Chancellor, visited Baba Ghudda Samadhi Sthal located at Village Ghudda in the morning. Here, they planted tree saplings to establish an Amrit Vatika and promote environmental awareness. Following this, everyone present took the Panch Pran Pledge administered by the Vice-Chancellor.
In the evening, Prof. Tiwari, joined by students and staff, paid floral tribute to the statue of Martyr Nand Singh (1947) situated at Fauji Chowk, Bathinda. Subsequently, the team from the Central University of Punjab, led by Prof. Tiwari, conducted a Tiranga Rally from Fauji Chowk. The rally resounded with chants of "Vande Matram" and "Bharat Mata ki Jai."
During this rally, the Vice-Chancellor paid rich tribute to our national heroes who have sacrificed their lives for our motherland by honouring the family members of Major Shaheed Ravi Inder Singh (who sacrificed his life in 2019). Prof. Tiwari used the occasion to encourage young participants to learn from the supreme sacrifices of our freedom fighters and martyrs, fostering a sense of nationalism and patriotism.
The event witnessed active participation from University Officials, Faculty, staff members and students, collectively underscoring the widespread spirit of unity and reverence for the nation.
