Bathinda, March 22, 2022: The Competitive Examination Cell and NSS Cell of the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB), under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, hosted a special lecture on "UPSC expectations from Civil Service Aspirants" on Monday. The invited speaker of this programme was Ms. Priyanka Das, IAS (2009 Batch), Managing Director, National Health Mission, Madhya Pradesh. Around 250 students and research scholars from different departments of the university attended this  programme.

While addressing the participants, Ms. Priyanka Das, IAS (2009 Batch), stated that UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) is the highest competitive examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission of India that allows an individual to venture into Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and other fields. She emphasized that candidiates should clearly define their objective of appearing in UPSC CSE as they would have to mention it before the interview panel. She pointed out that to qualify a UPSC Civil Service Examination, aspirants have to pass the three different levels of examinations i.e. UPSC Prelims, UPSC Mains and UPSC Interview, where they have to demonstrate their skills related to comprehension of current affairs and aptitude within the stipulated time, ability to present knowledge in a clear and coherent manner, and intellectual qualities. She asserted, while preparing for UPSC Exam, a candidate should focus on devaloping their time management skills, critical powers of assimilation, logical ability, balanced judgement and ability for social cohesion. She advised the UPSC CSE aspirants to prepare diligently to devote their effort to three different levels of UPSC preparation in the ratio of 10:70:20, , to sit in the UPSC exam only after minimum 1 year preparation and to avoid wasting a UPSC Exam attempt without preparation.
The lecture session was followed by a Question Answer Session in which Ms. Priyanka Das provided insightful answeres of the questions of the participants on the topics of important sources of current affairs, time-table for upsc exam preparation etc.
At the outset, Dr. Shahila Zafar, Chairperson, Competitive Examination Cell, welcomed the participants and introduced the invited speaker for the programme. Prof. Monisha Dhiman, Director of IQAC, expressed her gratitude towards the invited speaker for enlightening the participants with her words of wisdom. She gave a formal vote of thanks towards the end of the programme.
