The Department of Library and Information Science at the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CU Punjab), inaugurated a three-day National Workshop on "Skills and Competencies for Research in Library and Information Science" on March 17, 2025. The workshop is being held under the patronage of Prof. Raghavendra Prasad Tiwari, Vice-Chancellor of CUPB.

Bathinda, March 18, 2025: The Department of Library and Information Science at the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CU Punjab), inaugurated a three-day National Workshop on "Skills and Competencies for Research in Library and Information Science" on March 17, 2025. The workshop is being held under the patronage of Prof. Raghavendra Prasad Tiwari, Vice-Chancellor of CUPB.

The inaugural session was graced by Prof. H.N. Prasad, a retired professor from the Department of Library and Information Science, Banaras Hindu University, and former Vice-Chancellor of Patna University, Bihar, as the Chief Guest. In his address, Prof. Prasad emphasized the importance of systematic research and its impact on society, highlighting how rigorous research practices benefit scholars and contribute to knowledge advancement. The session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Bhavnath Pandey, Dean, School of Information and Communication Studies, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Rishabh Shrivastava, Assistant Professor in the Department of Library and Information Science.

The first day of the workshop featured two insightful sessions by renowned experts. Prof. Rupak Chakravarti from Panjab University, Chandigarh, delivered a lecture on "Data Storytelling Framework for Researchers: Turning Secondary Data into Publishable Manuscripts." He elaborated on the role of Artificial Intelligence-based tools in research data analysis and interpretation, equipping participants with modern techniques to enhance their research output. In the second session, Prof. Bhaskar Mukharji from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, presented a talk on "Analyzing Research Data with State-of-the-Art Technologies." His lecture focused on various citation styles and bibliographic references, with practical demonstrations on using Zotero, VOSviewer, and advanced Excel techniques for data analysis. Following these sessions, Dr. Prachi Shrivastava and Ms. Twinkle Singh extended the vote of thanks for their respective sessions.

The workshop has garnered participation from 141 registered scholars and faculty members representing various universities and colleges across India. It is being successfully organized under the leadership of Dr. Bhavnath Pandey, Head of the Department of Library and Information Science, with the active involvement of faculty members Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Somesh Rai, Dr. Florence Guite, Dr. Rishabh Shrivastava, and research scholar Dr. Prachi Shrivastava, among others. Additionally, Dr. Mukesh Kumar Yadav from the Department of Microbiology has also joined the workshop. The program is being supported by Dr. Rubal Kanozia, Head of the Department of Mass Communication and Media Studies.

The valedictory session of the workshop is scheduled to take place on March 19, 2025.
