Under the esteemed leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Ranganathan Library of the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, in collaboration with the INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, successfully organized a One-Day Workshop-cum-Awareness Programme on Saturday. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 120 delegates from Punjab and neighboring states.

Bathinda, April 28, 2025: Under the esteemed leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Ranganathan Library of the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, in collaboration with the INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, successfully organized a One-Day Workshop-cum-Awareness Programme on Saturday. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 120 delegates from Punjab and neighboring states.

The programme commenced with an inaugural session, beginning with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. Dr. Raj Kumar, Finance Officer, delivered the welcome address, while Dr. Bhupinder Singh, Convener of the Programme, provided an overview of the Ranganathan Library. Prof. A. S. Chandel, former Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, NEHU, graced the occasion as Guest of Honour, highlighting the pivotal role of libraries in effective information management and dissemination. Dr. Kannan Ponnusamy from the INFLIBNET Centre briefed the gathering about the objectives and structure of the workshop, emphasizing its significance for researchers and academicians. The inaugural address was delivered by Prof. Ramakrishna Wusurika, Dean and Incharge Academics, who underscored the importance of integrating modern information services into academic institutions.

The technical sessions were conducted by expert resource persons from the INFLIBNET Centre:

Dr. Abhishek Kumar, Scientist-E (Computer Science), elaborated on INFLIBNET’s major services, including INFED, SOUL, IRINS, SheRNI, Shodhganga, Shodh Chakra, Vidya Mitra, SWAYAM, and ONOS, explaining their relevance and applications in the academic and research ecosystem.
Dr. Kannan Ponnusamy, Scientist-E (Library Science), conducted detailed sessions on ORCID and IRINS, guiding researchers on enhancing their academic visibility and managing their professional profiles using these free, integrated platforms.
The workshop was highly interactive, with active participation from the attendees throughout the day.

The programme concluded with a feedback session and the distribution of certificates by the resource persons and Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Incharge, Library. Participants expressed appreciation for the informative sessions and conveyed a strong interest in attending future capacity-building events.
