Prof. (Dr.) Anand Thakur, Dean of the School of Management, commenced the event with a welcome address, highlighting the lecture's importance for both postgraduate and Ph.D. students.

During his lecture, Prof. (Dr.) Manjit Singh discussed the evolution in developing economies driven by patent initiatives. He emphasized the role of research culture in economic progress, detailing how advancements in various sectors enhance productivity, technological innovation, and global competitiveness. Prof. Singh outlined the seven pillars of competitiveness: natural resources, man-made capital, financial capital, institutional capital, human capital, knowledge, and cultural capital.

Illustrating current research trends, Prof. Singh cited successful companies like Apple, Google, and Microsoft as prime examples of how innovation drives economic prosperity.
