On the occasion of World Earth Day, the Centre for Public Health, Panjab University, organised a workshop at Kasturba Hall (Girls Hostel No. 04), Panjab University. The workshop focused on addressing public health issues, including “Antibiotic Resistance”, “Substance Use and Harmful Effects of Tobacco – Engaging Youth in Prevention,” and “Hand Hygiene Among Food Handlers and Handwashing Techniques.”

Chandigarh, April 23, 2025: On the occasion of World Earth Day, the Centre for Public Health, Panjab University, organised a workshop at Kasturba Hall (Girls Hostel No. 04), Panjab University. The workshop focused on addressing public health issues, including “Antibiotic Resistance”, “Substance Use and Harmful Effects of Tobacco – Engaging Youth in Prevention,” and “Hand Hygiene Among Food Handlers and Handwashing Techniques.”
 
The event was held under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Chairperson, Centre for Public Health. Dr. Indu Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, Panjab University, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Poonam, faculty at the Centre for Public Health, also marked her presence.
 
Informative lectures were delivered by Dr. Omisha Tikku, Mr. Ankush Gaur, and Dr. Pahari Chetia, all MPH II-year students, who enlightened the audience with valuable insights on the aforementioned topics. A practical demonstration was also conducted, highlighting the correct handwashing techniques, emphasising the importance of hygiene in disease prevention.
 
The workshop served as an interactive platform, engaging around 35 participants and equipping them with practical knowledge and preventive strategies to promote healthier lifestyles. The session concluded with a discussion, encouraging awareness and proactive participation in public health practices.
