Centre for Social Work, Panjab University (PU) organised "TARANG khushiyon ke sang" an exhibition of the products made by the local artisans from various voluntary organizations, student startups and self-help groups, as an initiative to be vocal for local.

Chandigarh, October 29, 2024: Centre for Social Work, Panjab University (PU) organised "Tarang khushiyon ke sang" an exhibition of the products made by the local artisans from various voluntary organizations, student startups and self-help groups, as an initiative to be vocal for local. 

Prof Monica Munjial Singh, Chairperson, Centre for Social Work, Panjab University hosted the event. Prof. Simrit Kahlon, Dean of student welfare (woman) Panjab University, Chandigarh was the chief guest of this event. The exhibition augments the work being done by non-governmental organizations that work towards the upliftment of marginalized populations.  They were invited to showcase the results of their hard work and talent. This is an initiative to support marginalized communities.

The event featured Non-Government Organizations, Self Help Groups from tricity and different states. Also, students from different departments of PU showcased their talent. A total of 47 stalls were setup at the event and they managed to earn a raise of Rs.1,45,000.

Shipra Bansal,  Chairperson, Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights also graced the occasion with her presence. Prof Anju Suri, department of history, Prof Anil Monga, department of police administration and wardens of different hostels, Professors, Faculty, students, scholars and other people appeared for this noble cause and supported the organizations. The overall event had a positive response and people appreciated the work done by the artisans. Alumnus of Centre for Social Work also visited and recalled their old memories. Shivika MSW -1-year student sold candles made by differently abled children, her father runs an NGO by the name “Ganpati educational society Kunihar” (Solan). The initiative "TARANG khushiyon ke sang ", exhibition created awareness among the mass and the different working of the NGOs Event like TARANG organized by Centre for Social Work, has provided various NGOs with valuable exposure to a broader audience, facilitating networking and collaboration opportunities.
