Centre government ready to set up national high altitude sport training centre near Dharamsala: Anurag Thakur
Thakur addressed a press conference in Dharamsala on Sunday
Dhsaramsala, August 22, 2021: “Centre Government is ready to set up a national high altitude sports training centre near Dharamsala, if the state government provides the required land for it,” said Anurag Thakur, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Youth Services and Sports in a press conference in Dharamsala on Sunday. He said that the Dharamsala area could play a major role in the idea to develop Dev Bhoomi and Veer Bhoomi Himachal , also to Sports Bhoomi.”We will try to improve and expand sports facilities in Dharamsala in near future. We shall also work to bring more sports events to the city in near future,”said the Minister.
He said that the Modi Government is Working hard to uplift the sports. He said that one of the examples is this, that the PM of the country himself interacted with the Indian sports persons of Tokyo Olympic, encouraged them and even invited the entire contingent at his residence. Anuraag said that the elite athletes are being trained in other countries on government’s expenses, and even in India they are being provided the best required food, facilities and coaches.
Anurag Thakur said, “Dharamsala is my second home, I used to visit this place frequently, even before joining politics. I worked to develop the city as a world class cricketing centre.” He said that the area could also be uplifted in other sports too, as it is connected by air.
Talking about the expansion of the Gaggal airport of Dharamsala, the minister said that it must be expanded to give a boost to tourism, and opening of many avenues for direct and indirect employment for thousands of youth of the area. Minister added that the central government has already sanctioned funds for airport expansion and now the state government should take initiative.
Union Minister said that every section, OBC, SC, ST, minority and women have been given a place in the Union Cabinet and this has happened for the first time. He said , “ As a Union Minister, I have been given a big and important responsibility at the center and this son of Himachal will bring laurels to the state with hard work and responsibility.”
He said that the Modi government has started welfare schemes keeping in mind every section of the country. One and a half lakh crore rupees have been provided to the farmers of the country. He said that to protect against Covid infection, two vaccines are being manufactured in the country itself under the able leadership of PM Sh Narendra Modi ji and are being provided to the people free of cost.
Thakur said that special efforts would be made to identify Himachal Pradesh as a sports hub and facilities would be created to develop sports in every district of the state .
