Centre for Human Rights and Duties Celebrates Human Rights Day at Masol Village
Chandigarh, December 10, 2019: Centre for Human Rights and Duties, Panjab University Chandigarh, celebrated International Human Rights Day today at Government Primary School, Masol Village, District SAS Nagar (Mohali). Dr.Namita Gupta, Chairperson of the Centre and Dr.Upneet Kaur Mangat along with the research scholars and students of the Centre carried out various activities with the children in the school to mark the event. She stated that though the village is just 13 km away from Chandigarh, yet there are no proper facilities available in the school. The programme began with making children aware about their rights and duties towards their families and society. They were further made aware about various hygiene practices including hand-washing technique. Meditation session was also conducted by Ms.Baljeet Kaur (former student, Centre for Human Rights and Duties), who explained the children the simple ways of meditation. To make the event more interesting, fun activities like singing, dancing and games were carried out. Children enthusiastically participated in all the activities. The students were served refreshments and stationery was also distributed. The students of the Centre had visited the school earlier too and had painted the walls of the school. In the evening, lightening of lamps was organized at the Student Centre to mark the day. Awareness of students at the Student Centre was also done through interaction.
