Certification function held at Groz-Beckert – NIIFT Skill Development Facility NIIFT, Ludhiana
Ludhiana, December 2, 2019: The certification function was organized at NIIFT Ludhianafor the successful candidates of the 6th batch who completed their 330 hours Industrial Sewing Machine Operator Training Program at ‘Groz-Beckert - NIIFT Skill Development Facility’ which was set up in 2017, under CSR initiatives of Groz-Beckert Asia Private Ltd. The performance based cash prize awards along with certificates were distributed to the passing out candidates jointly by Dr.Anton Reinfelder, Managing Director of Groz-Beckert Asia along with Mr. Stefan Leser, the incoming Managing Director of Groz-Beckert Asia. The certificates and cash awards for 100% attendance were distributed by Mr. Sanjay Chawla, Vice President Sales, Mr. Harvinder Singh, DGM-HR, Mr. Sanjay Sharma, Manager Sales, Mr. Shashi Kanwal, CSR Consultant of Groz-Beckert Asia and Mr. Harpreet Singh, Faculty NIIFT Ludhiana. The other esteemed guests present on the occasion were Mr. Avtar Singh from office of ADC, Ludhiana, Mrs. Kamini Shukla, Managing Director, Knitting Concepts, Mr.Vikram Chopra, Managing Director, Rishi Fabrics Ltd. and Mr. Samunder Singh from Vardhman Nisshinbo Garments Company Limited who also spoke on the occasion and conveyed their best wishes to the passing out students. Mr. Avtar Singh offered to help this facility in mobilizing students for future batches. Dr. Meeta Gawri from NIIFT while welcoming the guests also spoke about Groz-Beckert Asia and the set-up of this skill development facility in partnership with NIIFT. She introduced Dr. Reinfelder Managing Director, Groz-Beckert Asia and the incoming Managing Director, Mr. Stefan Leser to the gathering. Dr. Reinfelder in his address talked about the importance given to technical training and skill in Germany. So he stressed the relevance of technical/vocational training for students and told them to take pride in working with their own hands. While addressing the gathering, Mr. Leser emphasized about learning which never ends and thus is a continuous process so his message to students was to feel hungry to learn and be always open to learning new things. Sh. Mahesh Khanna, General Manager, DIC-cum- Centre Incharge, NIIFT conveyed, ‘NIIFT has taken this initiative to offer practical knowledge and nurture youth to become economically self-dependent and contribute to the progress of the region.’ He further added that NIIFT has kept its commitment of providing trained professionals to the industry and also captivating forward the commitment of Punjab Government of providing employment in each family of Punjab. Few students from the passing out batch and previous batches also spoke who all praised the good training and environment given which helped them in getting employment and also made them confident. The trainer Ms. Dimple was praised by students for her work. This time all the passing out students have been offered job by Space Fashions. This skill development facility trains the students coming from economically weaker section of society, for Industrial Sewing Machine Operators roleby expert faculty through audio-visuals and rigorous practical training on machines. Regular visits of students to the garment industry are also arranged in order to make them more familiar with the industry working. The training program is conducted free of cost for the candidates and all the raw materials etc., are also provided by Groz-Beckert Asia. The students are also assisted in getting employment in the industry. All the candidates were excited and full of joy after getting their certificates and the cash awards from Groz-Beckert Asia. The awards winning students were Star of the Session: Ms. Neelam Kumari, First prize in Final Examination: Ms. Rinku, Second prize in final Examination: Ms. Pooja Kumari, The event ended with vote of thanks by Mr. Harpreet Singh, faculty of NIIFT Ludhiana followed by Hi-tea.
