CGC’s 14th Annual Athletic Meet Inaugurated
The 14th Annual Athletic Meet of Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran was declared open by the Chief Guest Sukhwinder Kumar, PTS, Secretary, RTO Mohali. Mr Manpreet Singh, MVI Mohali, Mr Janak Raj, ASI, Traffic Awareness Cell, Mohali were the Guests of Honour. More than 1,000 students of the institution are participating in the meet. The first day of the event saw the athletes participate in 100 mts, 200 mts, 400 mts, 800 mts and 1500 mts races, Relay Race (400 mts), Discus Throw, Shot Put, Javelin Throw, Triple Jump, High Jump and Long Jump. The ceremony began with the Chief Guest taking the salute from CGC’s NCC cadets and participating students in a smart march past. CGC students who had won medals in PTU Level Championships were also felicitated at the event with Certificates of Appreciation and cash prizes. Mr Kumar wished the participants the very best. He highlighted the importance of sports and how these help inculcate the values of team spirit, perseverance and dedication which would stand them in good stead both in their professional and personal lives. He also urged them to lead fit and active lifestyle and stay away from drugs. The winners of today’s sports categories were felicitated by Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran with medals, certificates and trophies. The results till the filing of this report are as follows: Rajesh Singh, was the winner in the 1500 mts race (Boys), Shubham Rana stood second while Rahul Duhan came third. In the 800 mts race (girls), Megha Malhotra, captured the first position while Techiopu stood second; Priya Sharma took the third spot. In 100 mts race (Boys) – Sanjeev Kumar stood first, Manish K Jha stood second while Anshuman stood third. In 100 mts (Girls) – Rashi stood first, Archana stood second and Avneet kaur stood third. In Shot Put (Boys) – Deepak Kumar was declared the winner; Kanav Khera came second while Sahil Kumar stood third. In Long Jump (Boys) – Kartikay stood first; Yogesh Singh captured the second position while Prashant Chatterjee came third. In Javlin throw (Girls) – Harleen Kaur stood first; Shilpa Thakur took the second position while Medhavi Tomer stood third.
