CGC Jhanjeri hosted tree plantation campaign highlighting importance of green and clean air for environment
The Department of Student Welfare and National Service Scheme wing of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri organized a dynamic plantation drive on the occasion of NSS Foundation Day. NSS students participated in the drive with the objective to make the campus greener and healthier.
Mohali, August 27, 2023: The Department of Student Welfare and National Service Scheme wing of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri organized a dynamic plantation drive on the occasion of NSS Foundation Day. NSS students participated in the drive with the objective to make the campus greener and healthier.
The event, saw enthusiastic students venturing into various villages to plant trees, contributing to both ecological vitality and rural uplift. NSS volunteers adopted the planted saplings and took oath to water it and nurture it till they fully grown. Students were motivated to take such initiatives in future also & motivated them to pursue noble causes for the development of the society and aim high to Social Service.
Director Executive Dr. Neeraj Sharma inaugurated the venture by planting a tree and said that we should be concerned to save our environment. He further added that it is high time to save the earth otherwise coming generation will have to face dire consequences. According to him the main aim of organizing this drive was to make the students aware about the hazards of pollution and the need for planting more trees so as to save our Earth.
MD Arsh Dhaliwal informed at the moment that such initiative reaffirms of positive change and exemplifying its commitment of holistic education and community development.
Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said at the moment that most respiratory problems are due to lack of urban green cover. It is a fact that trees protect humans from harsh weather, provide shelter and act as filters for us to breathe easy. This is exactly why we are trying to create awareness among residents and our students as well. Awareness through action is the best way to set an example for our younger generation. He further also promoted the usage of paper bags and make city plastic free.
