Mohali, January 21, 2018: Chandigarh Group of Colleges Jhanjeri, organised Workshop on Big Data Analytics and Signal Processing. The key note speaker at the moment was Prof (Dr) Maia Angelova. Professor of Data Analytics and Machine Learning, Deakin University, Her expertise is in mathematical modeling of physiological and cognitive human functions, big data analytics and signal processing. She works on projects of sleep, depression, diabetes and ageing. While speaking at the moment she said that Big Data Analytics and Machine Learning are the latest Techniques used in Health Care Sectors. The data in healthcare generally reaches a level of such a complexity that it becomes next to impossible to interpret that data and bring it to use. This leads to slow growth in healthcare industry. Big Data Analysis solves this problem.

According to her the other potential benefits that big data provides is the detection (Analysis) of diseases beforehand ,which allows doctors to act and treat the patient proactively. This also helps in detecting fraud in healthcare more quickly and efficiently. Further, with use of statistical tools and algorithms, a faster development of more accurately targeted vaccines is possible. The tools are used to help in developing the cost effective ways for discovering more clinically relevant ways to analyze the disease and treat the patients in an effective manner.

Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said at the moment that the objective of this seminar was to show the importance of big data and demonstrate various steps involved in machine learning techniques to deal with various problems concerning healthcare.
