CGC Landran commemorates 23rd Kargil Vijay Diwas

Students and faculty members of the Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran remembered and paid reverence to heroic martyrs of the Kargil war as it commemorated the 23rd Kargil Vijay Diwas in Campus. The event was graced by the presence of Lt. Gen J.S. Dhillon, VSM (Retd.) as the Chief Guest.
The ceremony began with the dignitaries lighting the lamp and observing a minute of silence remembering the gallant warriors of the Kargil war who fought for their beloved motherland. Post the welcome address by the Campus Director, CGC Landran Prof. Dr. P.N. Hrisheekesha, Maj. H.S. Aulakh, Director Administration, CGC Landran, a veteran himself, regaled the students with tales of glory from the Kargil war in addition to giving them an in-depth understanding and history behind the war through an engaging presentation. He urged the students to never forget the supreme sacrifices made by our brave soldiers and to always choose courage over self doubt and dedication over a lackadaisical attitude.
This was followed by Lt. Gen J.S. Dhillon, VSM (Retd.), paying rich tributes to Kargil War martyrs and extolling the contribution of all three arms of the defence services i.e. the Army, the Air Force and the navy in Operation Vijay. He inspired the young students especially the girls, to consider joining the armed forces which he assured them, was a great and fulfilling career option. He also enlightened them about his efforts and service towards helping fellow veterans and their families through his social organization, concluding his session with a Q&A round with the students. The event concluded with special performances which included a medley of patriotic songs presented by Ashutosh Sharma, a student of BBA, 2nd year, in addition to mimes and poem recitations especially prepared for the occasion by CGC students from the engineering, management, biotechnology including others.
