CGC Landran organizes 3-Day DST Sponsored ‘Geo Innovation Challenge’
Chandigarh Engineering College, Landran organized a three Day National Level Geo-Innovation Challenge under the theme of “Geo-Health” sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology
Chandigarh, February 4, 2022: Chandigarh Engineering College, Landran organized a three Day National Level Geo-Innovation Challenge under the theme of “Geo-Health” sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology. This challenge in the hybrid model was exclusively designed to recognize, encourage and nurture young Doctorates to come up with innovative ideas for national socio-economic development that is responsive to today’s complex and evolving public health challenges. Participants came up with innovative learning practices to ideate and collaborate on possible solutions. More than 40 Doctorates and Research Scholars registered their abstracts for this three-day Geo-Innovation challenge out of which 25 participants were shortlisted to present their ideas.
The teams presented their unique ideas to the jury members comprising of experts from academia, research domain, industry, and social sector who judged them across the defined parameters. Based upon the evaluation of jury members the first prize of Rs. 12000/- was awarded to Dr. Brahma Dutt Vishwakarma, Assistant Professor, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. The Second Prize of Rs. 8000/- was awarded to Dr. Simarpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Chandigarh Engineering College, Mohali, and the third prize of Rs. 5000/- was claimed by Dr.Sarabpreet Kaur, Professor, and Dr. Rajneesh Talwar, Director Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri.
Dr. Shubha Pandey, Scientist D, National Geospatial Programme Department of Science & Technology encouraged participants to come up with more innovative ideas for improving overall public health in the country. Dr. H.S. Gusain, Scientist, DRDO graced the occasion by sharing the latest Geospatial technologies being used to improve public health challenges.
On the valedictory ceremony expressing appreciation towards the impressive ideas of the students, Dr. J.S. Saini, Former Professor, and Head Entrepreneurship Development Cell NITTTR, Chandigarh congratulated the winners and the organizers for the successful completion of the challenge.
