The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), has approved a sum of Rs 19 Lakh (Rs One Lakh per student) to be awarded as grant to 19 students of Mechanical Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering streams from Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran. Impressive performance by CGC students at various national and global level competitions was one of the key factors that helped them qualify for this financial assistance. The students have received the amount as a part of AICTE’s Support to Students for Participation in Competition Abroad scheme seeking to inculcate the culture of research, innovation and competition among students while enhancing the quality of engineering education in the country.

These 19 students are a part of two teams from CGC Landran that will be competing in two separate events i.e. ‘CanSat-2018’, a NASA sponsored global design-build-launch competition being held at Texas, USA and SAE International’s ‘Formula SAE (Internal Combustion) Racing Event’ being organised at Lincoln, Nebraska, USA, in the month of June. It is worth noting that teams from CGC Landran have been regularly participating in these global competitions having won the third rank in Asia and 12th globally in CanSat-2017.

Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran, and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran lauded the students and faculty mentors adding that CGC is committed to providing its students experiential learning focused on enhancing their theoretical knowledge as well as practical skills. They also appreciated AICTE’s initiative of promoting the culture of research and innovation among students across the country.
