Mahinder Singh Sidhu, Chairman of PUNSEED, Punjab, Dr. Sukhpal, Chairman of Farmer Commission, Punjab, and Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice Chancellor of PAU Ludhiana, paid a visit to ICAR-CIPHET to learn about the institute's contributions in the field of agricultural processing. Their objective was to explore processing opportunities in line with the policy framework to support farmers in Punjab.
Ludhiana, July 18, 2023: Mahinder Singh Sidhu, Chairman of PUNSEED, Punjab, Dr. Sukhpal, Chairman of Farmer Commission, Punjab, and Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice Chancellor of PAU Ludhiana, paid a visit to ICAR-CIPHET to learn about the institute's contributions in the field of agricultural processing. Their objective was to explore processing opportunities in line with the policy framework to support farmers in Punjab.
During their visit, they had the opportunity to explore various facilities at ICAR-CIPHET, including the Agro-processing center, Food testing laboratory, and Makhana Processing plant. The officials engaged in discussions regarding the practical applications of these technologies in farmers' fields. Dr. R.K. Vishwkarma, the In-charge Director of ICAR-CIPHET, and Dr. Sandeep Mann, Head of the AS & EC Division, provided detailed insights into the recent activities and significant achievements of the institute.
The officials were particularly impressed with the technologies developed by ICAR-CIPHET, which included innovative machinery, efficient process protocols, and value-added products that have proven beneficial for farmers. These technologies not only enhance farmers' income but also reduce post-harvest losses.
Mahinder Singh Sidhu, the Chairman of PUNSEED, Punjab, encouraged ICAR-CIPHET to collaborate with Punjab Agricultural University and Punjab State Seed Corporation Ltd. to further boost entrepreneurial opportunities among farmers in Punjab. The collaboration would enable the wider adoption and implementation of these advanced technologies, leading to greater prosperity for the farming community in the state.
