Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Academy & Department of Indian Theatre, PU Present “Rang Prayog Rashtriya Natya Samaroh”

The Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Academy, in collaboration with the Department of Indian Theatre, Panjab University, Chandigarh, is set to host Rang Prayog Rashtriya Natya Samaroh, an Eight-Day National Theatre Festival from March 7 to March 14 at Tagore Theatre.

Chandigarh, March 5, 2025: The Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Academy, in collaboration with the Department of Indian Theatre, Panjab University, Chandigarh, is set to host Rang Prayog Rashtriya Natya Samaroh, an Eight-Day National Theatre Festival from March 7 to March 14 at Tagore Theatre.

This festival will bring together eight distinguished plays from renowned institutions such as Department of Indian Theatre, PU, Chandigarh, Bhartendu Academy of Dramatic Arts, Lucknow (UP), Theatre Lab Madhya Pradesh School of Drama, Bhopal (MP) and Department of Theatre & Music, Lovely Professional University, Punjab directed by eminent theatre personalities.

The festival will open with a grand staging of “Sohni Mahiwal”, Directed by Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Chairperson Department of Indian Theatre, PU, Chandigarh and performed by the talented students of the Department of Indian Theatre. This timeless love story will set the tone for an enriching and immersive theatrical experience.

The Rang Prayog Rashtriya Natya Samaroh is not just a festival of theatre but also a significant joint effort towards recognizing and addressing the dire need for establishing Theatre repertory company for the artists of Chandigarh, fostering a dedicated space for theatrical excellence and cultural growth in the region and creating more opportunities for theatre practitioners, said Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Chairperson, Department of Indian Theatre, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
