Chandigarh State Rowing Championship declared open today
The finals for juniors will be held tomorrow
Chandigarh: Chandigarh State Rowing Championship was declared open today by the chief guest Ms Palak Goel DSP traffic Central Zone at Sukhna Lake Sports Complex.
On the first day in Senior Men’s Ajay stood first with a timing of 4.10.266 followed by Sauav and Pradhuman with a timing of 4.13.554 and 4.46.560, respectively in a 1000 meters race. In Women Single Scull, Monalisha Mohanty clocked 5.20.584 whereas Gurbani stood took second position with a timing of 5.55.218 followed by Poonam with a timing of 6.07.152. In women coxless four races Mamta, Priyadarshani, Ranjana, Amritpal stood first with a timing of 4.43.638 whereas Alisha, Renu, Radha, Pooja clocked 4.59.137 and third was Poonam, Arpita Malik, Gurbani stood third. In men’s double scull pair of Arjun, Depanshu reserved first position with a timing of 4.02.227 Gurdeep and Vishal Dhaiya stood second 4.06.025 and Saurav and Gurmej came third with a timing of 4.11.183. In men’s coxless pair CS Sahoo, Tarsem Singh came first with a timing of 4.03.506 Sukhdeep and Gulshan came second 4.09.81 and pair of Akash and Gaurav came third. In Men’s coxless four boat race Jagsir, Ravi Kumar, MD Ahmed, Sharman got first position with a timing of 3.45.867 whereas Sukhdeep, Aditya, Sahil, Lovpreet came second with a timing of 3.46.057 followed by Rajinder, Manjit, Gulshan, Gulshan Kumar stood third 3.54.111. Total 38 races were held on the first day of Chandigarh State Rowing with gusty wind conditions which makes water choppy for rowers in Sukhna Lake. The finals for juniors will be held tomorrow with a prize distribution in the evening at 4 pm. The Chief guest will be Shri Ranjan Sethi Chairman of The British Group of Schools.
