Punjab Education Minister Dr.Daljit Singh Cheema on Tuesday finalizing the Sports Blueprint for the upcoming academic session 2015-16 during a state level meeting of Punjab School Physical Education Development Fund Committee.
Chandigarh, July 21, 2015: Punjab Education Minister Dr.Daljit Singh Cheema today directed high-ups of education department to come out with ultra modern sports infrastructure in Primary Schools too so that budding players could excel in their respective sports in coming time besides giving a boost to sports culture in the state.
While finalizing the Sports Blueprint for the upcoming academic session 2015-16 during a state level meeting of Punjab School Physical Education Development Fund Committee, Dr. Cheema motivated physical education department in different educational institutes to extend special emphasis to uplift the standard of sports in Primary Schools since it was dire need to encourage our budding generations towards sports.
The Minister said that creation of congenial and friendly sports environment in these schools could provide us world’s best sports stars in future. He also asked to launch special fitness activities for these students with a focus to make them excellent in sports in coming time. Issuing on the spot orders to immediate provide needful sports material for games including Athletics, Badminton, Kho-Kho, Skipping Ropes, Football etc, Education Minister said that this exercise of giving a big push to sports culture at lower level will prove a boon for budding players.
Emphasising the need to bring more transparency during selection of players for state as well as National games, Dr. Cheema directed to make videography mandatory at the time of trials. He also said that at the time of selection for national games, an eminent sports icon of that particular sport should also be there as an expert, besides appointing a supervisor from headquarter. The Minister also gave a clear cut message that no negligence and laxity during the process of selection of players would be tolerated.
The Minister also formed a high level committee under Principal Secretary Mr. C. Roul to ensure the uniform implementation of sports, physical education and co-curricular activities in ongoing 2015-16 academic session. Mr. Cheema also assured the meeting that there would be no paucity of sports kits, diets and coaching staff.
Principal Secretary Mr. C. Roul, DGSE Mr. Pardeep Aggarwal, DPI (Secondary Education) Mr. Balbir Singh Dhol, DPI (Elementary Education) Mr. Harbans Singh Sandhu, Deputy Director (Sports) Mr. Sarbjit Singh Toor, State Organiser of Sports Wing Mr. Raghbir Singh were also present in the meeting.
