Sultanpur Lodhi (Kapurthala), March 24, 2017: MLA from Sultanpur Lodhi assembly segment Mr.Navtej Singh Cheema today profusely thanked the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Finance Minister Mr.Manpreet Singh Badal for keeping a budgetary provision of Rs 100 crore for the Sultanpur Lodhi to commemorate 550th Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in 2019.

In a statement issued here today, the MLA said that said that it was a matter a great pride for all of us that the state government has made a special provision of Rs 100 crore in the budget for celebrating the birth anniversary of great Sikh Guru in an unsurpassed manner. He said that this was a humble tribute of state government towards the life and philosophy of the first Guru of Sikhs. Mr. Cheema said that this unprecedented decision of state government was a supreme gift for every Punjabi in general and Sikhs across the globe in particular.

The MLA reiterated the firm commitment of the state government to give a complete facelift of the Holy city ahead of the 550th Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji. He said that the state government has already formed a high level committee to celebrate this mega event in an unprecedented manner. Mr. Cheema said that no stone would be left unturned to ensure these celebrations with full
religious gaiety and fervor.

The MLA said that the Finance Minister has also announced an initial grant of Rs 10 crore for the holy city. He said that as per the commitment of the state government elaborate arrangements would be made for convenience of pilgrims to this sacred place. He said that a strategy would be chalked out to ensure holistic development of this holy city.
