Chess Olympiad Torch Relay Congratulation Ceremony on June 22 at Dharamsala
Chess Olympiad Torch Relay will reach Dharamsala from Jammu on 21st June evening.
Dharamsala, June 20, 2022: Chess Olympiad Torch Relay will reach Dharamsala from Jammu on 21st June evening, informing this the Additional District Magistrate(ADM) Rohit Rathore said that on the morning of June 22, the relay torch would be handed over to the Union Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Information Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur in the SAI Complex at Dharamsala.
He said, “A programme will be organised in the SAI Sports Complex from 8 am to 10 am on Wednesday. After that the relay torch will leave for Shimla after a round of the Dharamsala city.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this torch relay for the 44th Chess Olympiad on Sunday at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi. The torch will be taken to 75 cities, including Srinagar, Jammu, Dharamsala, Shimla, Jaipur, Surat, Mumbai, Bhopal, Patna, Kolkata, Gangtok etc in 40 days before the culmination at Mahabalipuram near Chennai, the venue for the tournament. This event is to be held in Mahabalipuram from July 28 to August 10, 2022.
This is the first time that the country will host the Chess Olympiad.
