Chetan Singh Jauramajra to raise matter of unnecessary delay in starting work of PG Institute of Horticulture & Education with Union Minister Tomar
Punjab Horticulture Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra will meet the Union Horticulture Minister Narinder Singh Tomar to start the work of the Post Graduate Institute of Horticulture and Education to be set up at Attari in Amritsar district.
Chandigarh, August 2, 2023: Punjab Horticulture Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra will meet the Union Horticulture Minister Narinder Singh Tomar to start the work of the Post Graduate Institute of Horticulture and Education to be set up at Attari in Amritsar district.
He was chairing a review meeting with the officials of the Horticulture department and he noted the unnecessary delay in setting up of PG Institute.
During the meeting, it was revealed that the Punjab government had given 100 acres of land at Attari and 50 acres of land at Abohar to the Indian Council for Agriculture Research (ICAR) for free of cost. Many years have passed but the ICAR has yet to start the work to establish the Institute. No plan regarding this institute has been shared with the Punjab government till date.
Jauramajra said that he will hold a meeting with the Union Minister of Horticulture Sh. Narinder Singh Tomar for quick resolution of this matter.
He also directed the officials to prepare a detailed note about the other Horticulture projects to raise with the Central Government so that the Union Minister can be apprised about them.
Secretary Agriculture Arshdeep Singh Thind, Director of Horticulture Department Shailendra Kaur, Amit Talwar IAS, Director Research PAU Dr AS Dhatt and Dean Colleges PAU Dr. MIS Gill and other officials were also present in the meeting.
