CHIEF COMMISSIONER INCOME TAX & COMMISSIONER OF POLICE INAUGURATE VERTICAL GARDEN AT POLICE COMMISSIONERATE LUDHIANA

Ludhiana, September 13, 2018: With an aim to bring down the increasing pollution levels, the state government has started Mission Tandrust Punjab, that has started showing positive results. Moving forward in this direction, a Vertical Garden has been developed in the Police Commissionerate Ludhiana, that was inaugurated by Chief Commissioner Income Tax Mr Binay Kumar Jha and Commissioner of Police Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill today. This vertical garden comprises of 192 plants of different varieties.

While speaking on the occasion, Mr Binay Kumar Jha said that the Income Tax department uses discarded plastic bottles to set up Vertical Gardens. He informed that this drive to set up Vertical Gardens in different parts of the city was started in September last year. He stated that under this drive, the students and teachers of different schools were educated about Income Tax as well as this Vertical Garden concept, that helps in keeping our surroundings clean and green.

Mr Jha further said that they have got positive response from people from all walks of life for this special drive and seeing the Vertical Gardens set up by the Income Tax department, several other organisations have also come forward and have adopted this concept.

Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill said that this Vertical Garden doesn’t only looks good to the eye, but it would also motivate others to adopt it or to make efforts for increasing green cover in our city. He said that if more such Vertical Gardens are set up in the city, it would help in making our environment clean and green. He also thanked the efforts of Income Tax department for this initiative.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Additional Commissioner Income Tax Mr Rohit Mehra, Joint Commissioner Income Tax Mr Manav Bansal, Mr Abhidesh Misra, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr Ashwani Kapoor, ADCP (Headquarter) Mr Deepak Pareek, ACP Civil Lines Mr Sartaj Singh Chahal, Principal Mrs R Thama, besides several others.
